Pours a hazy amber copper with a big white head. Strong malty caramel backbone with some plum and raisin scents and an almost rum like alcohol smell. Big rum like quality up front with some buttery caramel flavors and some dark fruits that finishes with a mild hop bitterness. Aftertaste is kind of a caramel liqueur. This one lives up to it’s name, it’s a monster of a beer. The alcohol is in full force and even burns going down like a shot of rum. It’s very heavy in the mouth and leaves a pleasant caramel taste for a good while. This is my 3rd barleywine and it’s by far the most approachable. It’s big and bold, but not kick you in the nuts bold. I’ll definitely be adding this to my winter rotation from now on. 4.5/5
